A Caste System in Surrender

"And when Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laying down and sick with the fever. And He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she arose, and ministered unto them." Mt.8:14-15

Many people when they see people sick they offer a prayer and and bless people . Christ went to the home and was visiting and living among people, he was eating and laughing and listening and yes, even joking. A love so deep that it goes beyond the caste system of the church and loves beyond the ranks of ministers, bible study leaders, choir directors and people who are shimmering but not necessarily shining.

Never on Sunday do you hear all the congregation exchanging stories of the memories that they have shared together. We have our own little holes that we live in and we hardly see anyone except in our weekly cell groups and morning studies. There are caste systems right among us Christians. We whine about being lonely but never call to those who need our company the most.

I will say it: there are ranks (and I don't mean in the salvation army), there are categories of people we would love on and hang out with but those we never even talk to. We all want the pastor(or Captain) and his wife over, so they can stroke our chests of charity. But who runs to the newcomer and gets there name and number instead of simply asking them a bunch of useless questions? Do something radical and lovingly reach out beyond our gap labels and leather bibles and seek out the ones no one cares about and will never know you "ministered" to.

Surrender your "rank" for it is your ball and chain. It keeps you flaunting your spirituality and pushes you into Circus performing for the leaders attention and approval. Discontentment comes to those who are aiming for earthly crowns and not for those that we can cast at the feet of our Savior.

The day the church surrenders their rank is the day the caste system will decay and fall down in the name of Jesus.
I love you all dearly. Your Rae.
